10 Startups to Watch out in Ghana

Investors and entrepreneurs in Ghana are out to ensure that all the market gaps are filled with goods and services that satisfy the need of consumers. Both males and females run startups in Ghana. Here are some startups that one should keenly watch their growth in Ghana:

Saya

The startup is known to be an SMS killer having integrated an app into their system. The app helps in bringing smart-phone-like messaging to phones that are non-smartphone. The application is viral and can access one’s contact then send personalized invitation messages. The company currently has a target market of 4 billion globally.

Meltwater Foundation (MEST)

Meltwater thought of developing a program to facilitate the development of world-class tech entrepreneurs in Africa. For this reason, in 2008 they established Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) in Ghana. The company allows students from other parts of Africa like Kenya, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa to join their programs which are offered in Accra, Ghana. The records show that over 400 people have graduated from MEST.

Zished

Zished helps to deliver gifts to people within Ghana and is open for both locals and those who stay abroad. A special occasion that calls for delivery of flowers and other gifts to the recipient is now made easy if you use services from Zished. The company partners with local vendors to obtain what customers order for and deliver.

Ahonya

The startup identified the need of allowing people from Ghana to order goods from Amazon by paying for goods using mobile money. The company considered that Amazon rarely accept debit cards from some African States and a large amount is incurred as shipping fee.

OMG digital

It is another startup to watch in Ghana as it is one of the biggest digital media companies in Africa. The company has over 90 million views monthly and focuses on creation and publishing of African pop-culture. It has two editorial brands which are Bitnode.com and OMGVoice.com

InvestED, PBC

InvestED opened a forum that allows users to sign up and take entrepreneurship lessons. Moreover, the company has an app to facilitate its operations and ensure there are no scammers in the system. They also offer loans to entrepreneurs who undergo the training, and the loan is repayable through the platform via mobile money.

ClaimSync

The company set up an online platform that connects insurance companies to clinics and hospitals for proper record keeping. Upon receiving the claims, the respective companies respond after vetting the claims, and people get compensated.

RetailTower

RetailTower aims at becoming the world’s eCommerce feed management leader. The company uses price comparison search engines to increase human traffic and sales for the registered retailers.

Volta

The company offers pre-finances on smart solar systems in Ghana for small business, healthcare, and agriculture. Since the company aims at delivering sustainable development goals, it offers electricity at pocket-friendly prices to their clients and supports national development.

PEG Africa

The startup provides solar energy to all their potential clients who earn between $1-6 daily and are located in West Africa.
