Sticitt just announced a new R3-million investment from  Crucis VC. Based in Cape Town, the startup was founded by Dennis Wevell, Mitch Dart, and Theo Kitshoff back in 2018. What began as a project between three has now grown to a team of 8.

Initial funding came from friends and family, an indication that this is their first major external capital infusion. Kitshoff, one of the founders, has a background in banking and linked up with the other two Dart and Wevell who worked for a Pretoria-based tech consultancy called Limitless Virtual –  which is no longer in existence.

Today Sticitt actively services golf estates, schools, and events. It has also been adopted by a utility company to help in the repayment of water bills as society tends to go cashless. The startup has invested in schools, helping parents pay their fees, and learners pay for their school-related activities.

In 2018, the three signed a deal with the  D6 Group – a network of over 2,000 schools across 160 communities – to provide an online cashless platform that allows parents to track the progress of learners.

The startup is also actively engaging other sectors with an ecosystem of clients but no payment function to actively serve them. Sticitt was originally from Pretoria but the three decided to move to Cape Town after several personal considerations. Now that they are based in Cape Town, the trio have unfettered access to tech talent from Gauteng. The three also enjoy the relaxed lifestyle surrounding the city.
