TechInAfrica — Botswana is looking to host the 2020 Forbes Under 30 Summit for April next year. Speaking to the media on October 15, President Mokweetsi Masisi said that if Botswana successfully hosts the summit, it would be a historic moment as the summit was held in Africa for the first time ever.
“The government is currently in negotiation with Forbes to host the summit in Gaborone as part of the President’s initiative and brings together 600 of the world’s most elite entrepreneurs and game-changers, including 200 from the host country and 200 of the best under the 30s from around the world,” he said.
This renowned event would put Botswana in the middle of entrepreneurship and as well as incubate the local startup scene. He explained that the scheduled event would provide media exposure for the audience that is said would be around 100 million people.
The Chief content officer of Forbes Media and Editor of Forbes Magazine, Randall Lane has also confirmed that Forbes will host the Forbes Under 30 Summit in Botswana for the first time next year.
Speaking on Forbes, here is what the media say regarding the most coveted award for young people in the world, “What never grows old? The burning desire of youth to reinvent the world. That ambition and impatience is on full display in our 2018 edition of the Forbes 30 Under 30, our annual encyclopedia of creative disruption featuring 600 young stars in 20 different industries. Selecting these youthful visionaries is a year-round obsession: We vet thousands of nominations, leaning on the collective wisdom of our online community, ace reporters and a panel of A-list judges. Now in our seventh year, with a 4,000-strong alumni network that spans the globe, this list continues to spotlight the impressive, the inspiring and the (genuinely) enviable.”
