22 Youth drawn from 22 African countries are now in the final round of the African Code challenge. The participants are now eagerly awaiting the final round of judging. Winners will be made public in January 2021.
The African code challenge was launched in August during the 6th edition of the SAP Africa Code Week. This coding challenge engages participants between the ages of 8 to 16 years with coding games that are based on Scratch programming language. The theme for the challenge is to answer the question, “How will your tech change the future of education?”
Youth could participate in teams of not more than five while tapping into skills such as problem-solving, coding, teamwork, and communication. Each entry was captured by a 2-minute YouTube video showing how this game works and why it deserves to win.
In total 40 countries took part resulting in 100 project video submissions. The top 3 videos made it to the continental rankings, and 22 countries reaching the final judging stage.
