SolarFreeze Wins the Africa Energy Prize

SolarFreeze is a Kenyan based startup that majors in renewable energy. It helps in solving the electrification problem in Africa. The startup was recently crowned the best energy provider startup in Africa. This is after it won the African Energy Prize. The ward was won at the RES-EXPO forum with the theme “Renewable Energy in East-Africa.” The startup developed a storage system that depends on solar for its operations. The unit offers refrigeration services to small-scale farmers and traders. All this takes place with a less source of power required.

The startup will have an opportunity to take part in the three months program. The program is valued at almost $50,000 in cash funded Seedstars and accelerator services. The award was presented by Enel X and Seedstars World SA (Seedstars). Enel X is a new division of the Enel Group while Seedstars World SA (Seedstars) is a Swiss-based group. The partnership of the two groups started officially in July 2017. This came after the two had signed a cooperation agreement.

The collaborators involved the small business owners who are giving innovative energy solutions. The solutions look to solve problems in storage, electric mobility, distributed generation, and energy efficiency. This helps them to tackle Seedstars World SA (Seedstars). It works specifically on SDG7 to enable pocket-friendly and clean energy for all. SolarFreeze helps in hastening development in less developed areas. It does that by providing electricity solutions.

Many startups were listed at during the listing period for the Africa Energy Prize. The listed startups offer different energy plans to Africa. The upcoming business models in-cooperates socio-economic. This develops the economic and productive activities. These are important in making Africa’s future better and sustainable. There was a development of the Africa Energy Track challenge. The challenge helps in coming up with innovative startups in in the African electricity sector. This works by the Seedstars World startup competition. It is projected that around 600 million people in Africa cannot access electricity. Energy problems should be at the top of Africans development agenda.
