TechInAfrica – This year will be the seventh edition of RiseUp Summit, one of the largest entrepreneurship events in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. According to the announcement made yesterday, this year’s edition will take place at The American University in the New Cairo campus on December 5th – 7th. The event will also coincide with the AUC’s centennial celebration.
Speaking on a statement, RiseUp representative said: “The AUC new campus will provide space for more startups to join the summit, accommodate a sizeable number of attendees, as well as introduce a number of new features to this year’s RiseUp Summit. The new location will also allow RiseUp to lead a digital transformation that will help provide each summit attendee with a unique tailored experience.”
This year’s RiseUp Summit targets to attract 10,000 attendees from all around the globe. The three day’s event will feature both English and Arabic content. It goes under the theme: Journey of Growth, designed to build on the past editions of the summit while at the same time combine three main elements including innovation, growth, and grounded experiences.
“Having organized the summit for the past seven years, we were able to identify the challenges faced by startups in the region which allowed us to develop a complete model that they can follow when venturing through the entrepreneurship ecosystem,” said Abdelhameed Sharara, the Co-Founder and CEO of RiseUp.
Sharara added, “After dissecting growth, we found that there is no fixed manual on how to grow, it is a personal and unique journey for each entrepreneur. So, what we can offer people is diverse and unlimited resources and opportunities, along with a growth strategy. We decided to move to the AUC New Cairo campus, allowing us to roadmap that guides them through this journey and being committed to our own grow further in all aspects.”
The RiseUp Summit 2019 will host four different startup exhibitions from different startup stages and industries, including Startups Station for early-stage startups, HIPOs Station for post-seed startups, an F&B Station and a Creative Marketplace. In additions, exhibition participants will have a chance to participate in investors’ office hours, legal clinic, UX/UI clinic, and talent matchmaking.
This year’s edition of RiseUp Summit will feature international speakers, including CCO of Collins, Brian Collins; Global Innovation Director at Nestle, Gerardo Mazzeo; Head of Social at 9GAG, Karen Cheng; as well as Founder and Director of the Gritti Fund, Marcel Muenster.
