Facebook Accelerator Bootcamp 2019 Selected 12 Teams For A 6-Month Program

TechInAfrica – Facebook carries new opportunities for startups and students across West Africa’s Nigeria and Ghana by rolling out the second cohort of its Accelerator Bootcamp in 2019. The program was sponsored by NG-HUB from Facebook and in partnership with Co-Creation Hub. Applying for the program already closed by July 7th, and from the selection, 8 startups and 4 students were chosen. Last year’s Accelerator Bootcamp produce 15 teams which raised over $400 M grants and investments.

The twelve teams are selected to join the 6-month program, which will challenge each team on designing ‘brave’ solutions by relying on advanced technology and their brilliant minds. The developed solutions are the ones that leverage the following technology; Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Internet of Things (IoT), Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR).

In the 6-month program, the selected teams are enriched with Deep learning sessions in the form of workshops that are tailored to the startup’s needs. The teams can expand their network by meeting corporate partners and exhibit their products at the program’s annual innovation Showcase Week. Assisting the startups with in-depth insights are the experienced global engineers from the Facebook mentorship. Industry experts will also share their insights with the teams, allowing them to speed up their working process. Another support comes from In-house experts of Product, Finance, Legal, and Human Resource, which lend their strategic approach through one-on-one sessions. The teams are granted with high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity and convenient workspace in NG_HUB, Yaba, as well as Facebook and CcHUB partner credits worth $16,000. Equity-free funding of $20,000 will be given to the teams to accelerate their solutions, in which startup teams receive $20,000 and the student teams receive $10,000. In-between the learning sessions are fun activities that help the teams refresh their minds after a series of hard works.

CcHUB will host roadshow events in the 10 states across Nigeria to advocate the students and entrepreneurs about deep-tech and advanced technology. On 27th September, all twelve teams will be able to pitch and showcase the demo version of their solutions. Read more about the bootcamp here.
