TechInAfrica – Venture Capital for Africa (VC4A) has announced the 12 companies consisting of 11 Series A and 1 Seed+ for its 2019 Venture Showcase. The selected companies are vetted by 40 venture capital investors through rigorous referral and selection process. They include companies working on several important innovations, including finance, healthcare, transport, commerce, and advertising sectors.
Founders from the selected companies will demonstrate their business models in front of investors at Africa Early Stage Investor Summit in Cape Town, South Africa on November 13 – 14, 2019 with the opportunity to raise $250,000 to $5 million in Series A capital.
The 12 selected companies include 7keema (Egypt), Brimore (Egypt), Buseet (Egypt), CredPal (Nigeria), CrowdForce (Nigeria), FinChatBot (South Africa), FlexClub (South Africa), LifeBank (Nigeria), Mobiz (South Africa), Snapnsave (South Africa), Yassir (Algeria), and VRapeutics (Egypt) for the Seed+ category.
The 12 startups will be mentored by top venture capital investors and receive bespoke investment readiness training in Cape Town, South Africa. During their one-week residency, they will get the chance to connect with and learn from their mentors, partners, and peers before pitching their business models at the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit. Furthermore, they will also pitch to broader audiences of investors, tech professionals, and corporates at VC4A’s partner event, AfriCom.
This year, there has been great participation from investors, including 40 major VCs and angel investor groups. They have involved in the vetting process. The initiative is believed to help in building trust and foster cooperation between industry stakeholders and create co-investment opportunities as well as exit opportunities for VC4A’s partners.
