Government around the globe values education, though many aren’t leveraging the power of technology to ensure continuous learning, particularly at this critical time. The world is still in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis and needs to seek other ways to get things done. It can’t be business as usual.
Zamtel, in partnership with the Ministry of General and Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ), has launched an e-Learning and Smart Revision platform, which appears to be super interactive.
Zambia’s Ministry of Education wants to bridge the learning gap caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the new e-Learning and Smart Revision portal will serve as a supplementary learning resource for students in the country.
Access to the platform is free for all. Click on this portal for the e-Learning while the portal for the Smart Revision lies here. This national e-learning and Smart Revision portals are for learners and educators. It also contains links to a virtual library, e-books, and other specialized services.
All grades seven, nine, and twelve, including GCE (General certificate examination) candidates, can access past questions and answers in the e-Learning portal.
David Mabumba, Zambia’s General Education Minister, was overjoyed after the launching of both online platforms, at the prestigious Kasama College of Education. The minister said his ministry would continue to do all it can to bring education to Zambians as close as possible.
The minister also commended ECZ’s ability to leverage the expertise of Zamtel to provide robust e-Learning platforms in the country.
Sydney Mupeta, Zamtel’s Chief Executive, also spoke at the launch of the program. He said the e-learning and Smart Revision portal were part of Zamtel’s digital journey, as tons of tech products have been made available by the organization.
Mr. Mupeta continued by stating that the e-learning platform comes loaded with quality educational resources that can benefit teachers and students alike. E-books, a virtual library, and other helpful resources are available on the platform.
The Zamtel head also acknowledged the challenges the world is facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he urged students to take advantage of the e-Learning opportunity to keep themselves up-to-date academically, as schools remain closed.
Also speaking at the launch was Michael Chilala, ECZ’s Director. He pointed at that the new portals completes the circle of the e-educational services, which the council has been offering learners in the country. He went further to state some of the latest innovations of the agency, which include SMS results release, online registration, and e-statement of results, among others.
