Cairo-based laundry service Makwa received a six-figure investment from an angel investor. Few details exist of the sum of the investment or the name of the investor.
Makwa was founded in 2018 by Aly Eteiba to help Cairo users find it more convenient to book their laundry services from ironing, washing, and dry cleaning through its mobile application.
Users can place requests to have their clothes picked up by a Makwa agent, then delivered to a certain location. Platform users have the option of adding special washing or ironing instructions, tracking their orders, and making online payments through the app. Makwa offers these services by partnering with high-quality vendors cleaning the clothes using Makwa’s guidelines.
The Egyptian startup is part of the Fall 2019 cycle of Flat6Labs program. It is also one of the startups that made it to the finals of RiseUp’s Pitch by the Pyramids.
During the occasion, Aly Eteiba, Makwa’s founder and CEO said, “We are solving a problem that every household has had an issue with at some point in time. Our goal is to offer our customers a convenient, hassle-free, and enjoyable customer experience, and at the same time deliver a reliable and consistent product and service.”
Makwa will use the investment to expand their team, upgrade their technology, and accelerate the expansion.
