6 entrepreneurs shortlisted for the 2nd cohort of ocean-inspired accelerator

African Impact Accelerator’s second cohort has a pan-African representation

On 19th April OceanHub Africa made public the 6 candidates that qualified to the second cohort of this year’s OceanHub Africa (OHA) programme. OHA is based at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and offers acceleration for ocean impact. The outstanding innovators were selected from 130 applications sent from 24 African countries.

Ailars David of Arena Recycling Industry (Tanzania)  offering recyclable eco-building materials.

Matthew Bray of Brayfoil Technologies (South Africa) implementing patented wind morphing technologies to wind turbine manufacturing.

Victor Boyle-Komolafe of Givo (Nigeria), using tech to create a circular economy in the collection and processing of recyclables.

Eva Shitaatala of Green Ocean Namibia (Namibia), who is facilitating the accessibility of sustainable fish products while creating decent income for small-scale fishermen.

Never Mwambela Zekeya of Plant Biofenders Limited (Tanzania), who offers an effective yet affordable safe-to-use pesticide Vuruga Biocide.

Nonso Opurum of Soso Care (Nigeria) looking to reduce plastic pollution and improve access to quality healthcare.

The program will run for 6 months and is fully supported by the OHA team, mentors, and partners. Participants will benefit from product development, engineering, access to business, access to market leads, hands-on services from corporate partners, fundraising support, and a lot more.

OHA and partners look to nurture an environmentally conscious yet profitable economy that helps mitigate overexploitation of the oceans, pollution, and the adverse effects of global warming on our oceans.
