TechInAfrica – The contactless payment platform Zapper has seen a significant use in Canal Walk’s parking with its QR code payment.
The QR code which is a partnership ith Servest has been used more than cash or credit card according to the general manager at Canal Walk, Gavin Wood.
“Cashless payments allow us to reduce our onsite cash float thereby reducing risk and our insurance cover. Going digital also means we see a reduction in the number of cash in transit collections which is good for us and our customers,” Wood adds.
The CEO of Zapper, Brett White said, “We are greatly encouraged by the result at Canal Walk. As Africa’s third largest shopping mall, finding ways to lower payment friction makes a meaningful difference on the overall customer journey. Congestion at payment points will, in many cases, be the last impression shoppers have of the centre so cutting down on exit time is definitely a big benefit.”
“We are also very pleased to be able to help the centre reduce the amount of cash transactions, which is another operational win,” says Brett White, chief executive officer at Zapper.
Other than Servest, Zapper has also partnered with HubParking and Skidata and have its 1D barcodes and 2D QR codes payment installed in Cape Gate, Urban Square, Wembley Square, Eikestad Mall, Melrose Arch, and Fourways. It also plans to add Lynwood Bridge in Pretoria soon.
