Andela, a global marketplace for technical talent who work from home, is now accepting applications for its upcoming EPIC Tournament.
In collaboration with HackerEarth, the tournament will have the world’s best developers work in teams to develop solutions that will help the growing number of remote workers worldwide.
Participants can be from anywhere in the world, but they must choose a country from one of four areas: America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, or Asia-Pacific.
In line with Andela’s goal of helping companies build remote engineering teams, coders will hack and design products that will help solve the problems of the future of work.
Teams or individuals will first participate in the EPIC Coding Challenge, which has two rounds and tests how good they are at coding. Participants will have 3 hours to code their way to the top of the leaderboard.
Only 16 teams, four from each region, will be invited to the EPIC Remote Worker Hackathon, which starts on November 28, 2022. They will have ten days to work on their hack before presenting it to a panel of judges.
The participants’ final projects will be judged based on how well they solve problems and make products and how well they follow Andela’s EPIC values.
They are urged to be:
- Excellent in all of their piles
- passionate about their idea or solution, which they will present,
- Be honest and have integrity when showing off the solutions they offer.
- And to work together to beat the other teams in the race.
The top three teams with the best ideas in terms of Creativity, Impact, Feasibility, and Scalability will get prizes from Andela and its partners worth $10,000 in cash and swag.

In the past few years, the number of people who work from home has grown rapidly. According to a study by Owl Labs, 56% of global companies allow remote work, and 16% of global companies are entirely remote. The hackathon will give people ideas for how to make remote work better in the future.
