The operational setup of Impact Investing Ghana’s Ci-Gaba fund of funds has started .This fund of funds aims to help local capital providers access $75 million in local and international financing.
These local investors are putting their money into small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to help reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Impact Investing Ghana is an effort led by the private sector to build a strong impact investing ecosystem in Ghana.
Because of funding from the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) RISA Fund, the fund can establish its operations, find anchor sponsors, and operate.
We’re happy to have reached this important milestone and started setting up operations. CEO Amma Lartey said, “It has been a pleasure to work on the design with local pension funds, foundations, international development partners, and development finance institutions over the last year as part of an exciting consultative process.”
Impact Investing Ghana’s project aims to improve the innovation ecosystem by making it easier for people to get funding through cutting-edge vehicles. Michele Bradford, who is in charge of the RISA Fund team, said, “We are thrilled that IIGH is making a funding system that can be copied and shared with partners across our regional portfolio.”
The first fund of funds to be run by the private sector will be based in Ghana and will invest both in Ghana and all over West Africa.
