Twenty Ghanaian startups has completed the UNICEF StartUp Lab Accelerator and collectively received funding of $445,000.
These twenty outstanding Ghanaian entrepreneurs graduated from the program after completing a six-month intense accelerator program focused on business and product development.
Fiachra McAsey, the deputy representative of UNICEF in Ghana, admired this new cohort of talented startups. He commended their utilization of digital technology and business expertise to create novel products and services that address some of the most pressing challenges faced by young people in Ghana today.
The cohort of twenty startups comprises a group of dedicated, resourceful, and talented individuals from various regions of Ghana. For the past six months, UNICEF has been privileged to accompany them throughout the UNICEF StartUp Lab Accelerator Program. Going forward, UNICEF will continue to support these startups as they become part of the program’s alumni network, enabling them to positively impact the lives of children and young people not only in Ghana but also beyond its borders, as highlighted by McAsey.
The UNICEF StartUp Lab is specifically designed to assist companies in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to children and young people. UNICEF leads this accelerator program in Ghana and receives support from KOICA under the “KOICA-UNICEF Accelerating Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Ghana” project.
