Fincra, a leading Nigerian fintech company has transformed a significant piece of the country’s history into its new headquarters. Fincra launched its new headquarters in the Ikoyi neighborhood of Lagos, Nigeria, with partners, merchants, and other important stakeholders in attendance.
The historical landmark, which once served as the residence of Sir Frederick Lugard, one of Nigeria’s key colonial administrators, has now been repurposed to become a beacon of innovation and progress for Fincra. Ayowole Ayodele, the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fincra, believes that the company’s new headquarters at this historic site represents its goal of always reflecting on the positive elements of Nigeria’s vibrant journey.
“The Nigeria of our dreams cannot be shaped by cynicism and burdened by the weight of our blemished past, but with utmost optimism,” Ayowele said. Gideon Orovwiroro, Fincra’s Co-Founder and Director of Operations, sees the company’s new headquarters as a symbolic representation of its value of building together in unity.
“This is what Fincra is making out of our history: transforming it into a foundation for innovation and connectivity,” Gideon said. “This building, steeped in history, symbolises our commitment to embracing the positive aspects of our past while forging a hopeful future—one that is optimistic and forward-looking.”
Fincra’s new headquarters embodies the spirit of unity and progress that the company aspires to see in Nigeria. The “Fincra Tribe,” as the team calls themselves, is a diverse group of highly effective collaborators from various backgrounds, working together to build the API infrastructure that digitally connects Nigeria, Africa, and the rest of the world.
Since 2021, Fincra has expanded its services beyond Nigeria to countries like Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, the United Kingdom, Europe, and North America, staying true to its vision of providing solutions that enable businesses and platforms to send and receive money in more than 150 countries.
Fincra’s decision to establish its new headquarters in the former residence of Sir Frederick Lugard, a symbolic figure in Nigeria’s colonial history, demonstrates the company’s commitment to embracing the positive aspects of the past while driving innovation and progress for the future. This move not only honors the country’s history but also serves as a testament to Fincra’s unwavering dedication to building a brighter, more connected, and prosperous Nigerian future.
