Ecobank Uganda has embarked on a significant collaboration with Ria Money Transfer, a global leader in cross-border remittance services. This partnership aims to revolutionize the remittance landscape in Uganda, offering enhanced options for both domestic and international money transfers.

The new alliance brings a host of benefits to Ugandan customers. Ecobank account holders can now receive funds directly into their accounts, streamlining the process of international money transfers. For those without Ecobank accounts, the partnership offers flexibility. These customers can collect cash transfers at any Ecobank branch or through the bank’s extensive sub-agent network across Uganda.

Grace Muliisa, Managing Director of Ecobank Uganda, highlighted the partnership’s significance for Ugandans both at home and abroad. She emphasized its particular relevance for those in the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Middle East. The collaboration simplifies the process for Ugandans in the diaspora to send money to their families back home.

Muliisa underscored the growing demand for seamless financial solutions among Africans living abroad. She expressed enthusiasm about working with Ria Money Transfer to enhance the security and efficiency of remittance services for all Ugandans. This partnership aligns with Ecobank’s mission to provide unparalleled convenience in global funds transfer services.

The collaboration also strengthens Ecobank’s position as a trusted partner for the Ugandan diaspora. By offering improved remittance options, the bank aims to cater to the evolving needs of its customers, both within Uganda and internationally.

El Hadj Malick Seck, Managing Director of Ria Money Transfer – Africa, shared similar sentiments about the partnership. He noted that this collaboration adds significant value to Ria’s already extensive network, which includes over 580,000 physical locations across nearly 200 countries.

Seck emphasized the importance of East Africa, particularly Uganda, in Ria’s operational strategy. He expressed confidence that this partnership would provide even greater convenience to Ugandans sending money to their families back home. The collaboration leverages Ria’s global reach and Ecobank’s local expertise to create a more efficient remittance system.

This partnership comes at a time when international remittances play an increasingly crucial role in Uganda’s economy. Many Ugandan families rely on money sent from relatives working abroad. By making these transfers more accessible and efficient, Ecobank and Ria are addressing a vital need in the market.

The collaboration between Ecobank Uganda and Ria Money Transfer represents a significant step forward in the country’s financial services sector. It combines the strengths of a major African bank with the global reach of an international remittance leader. This synergy promises to bring about positive changes in how Ugandans send and receive money across borders.

As the partnership unfolds, it is expected to contribute to the broader goal of financial inclusion in Uganda. By making international money transfers more accessible, it opens up new possibilities for Ugandans to participate in the global economy. The initiative aligns with broader trends in Africa’s financial sector, where innovative partnerships are reshaping the landscape of cross-border transactions.
