Sistema.bio, a Nairobi-based biogas technology company, has announced the acquisition of Inclusive Energy (IE), a digital monitoring platform for solar and biogas systems, shortly after securing $15 million to scale clean energy technology across Africa.
This acquisition enhances the company’s capacity to provide high-impact biogas solutions with improved digital monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) capabilities, offering farmers worldwide better services and long-term support.
The acquisition will enable remote diagnosis, usage analytics for carbon reporting, and data insights for predictive maintenance, allowing the company to better assist farmers and partners with a real-time monitoring system for biogas digesters, utilizing advanced sensing and communication tools.
Inclusive Energy(IE) is a leader in Digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV). Its IoT technology and digital platform enable biogas performance tracking, enhancing the service and usage experience for farmers.
According to a statement, this acquisition allows Sistema.bio to merge its status as the largest full-service biogas company with the first biogas-specific platform for digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV), facilitating the implementation of carbon emission reduction projects at scale with high-quality digital monitoring.
Alex Eaton, CEO and co-founder of Sistema.bio, stated that this development enables the company to accelerate both technologies to better serve farmers and reduce carbon and methane emissions. He emphasized that integrating the two companies is a strategic move to strengthen Sistema.bio’s commitment to climate action, aiming to achieve a 1% reduction in annual global greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
Vijay Bhopal, CEO of Inclusive Energy, noted that partnering with Sistema.bio positions them to leverage IE’s digital technologies to improve lives and enhance credibility in the carbon markets.
“In addition to driving business growth at scale, IE technology enhances farmers’ return on investment from biogas and regenerative agriculture systems by ensuring the integrity of carbon impact data,” said Joyce Cacho, Independent Board Chair at Sistema.bio.
This move does not affect any of IE’s existing Inclusive Energy customer and partner contracts, ensuring data confidentiality, service access, and maintenance remain intact.
