WhatsApp Introduces Transcripts for Voice Messages

Share

WhatsApp has launched an exciting new feature: voice message transcripts! Now, instead of listening to every voice note, you can read a text version — perfect for noisy environments or when you prefer not to hit play.

To enable it, go to Settings > Chats and toggle on the “Voice message transcripts” option.

Once enabled, simply long-press any voice note and select “transcribe” to view the text. It doesn’t automatically transcribe all messages, ensuring no hidden transcript history, and all processing occurs directly on your device for added privacy.

Currently, the feature is being rolled out globally in select languages. iOS users on iOS 16+ will have access to popular languages like English, Spanish, and French, while iOS 17+ users will see additional languages such as Danish, Hebrew, and more.

Android users need not worry — the feature includes languages like English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian, with more languages expected to roll out soon.

This move mirrors what Apple introduced with iOS 17, demonstrating that WhatsApp is staying competitive. It’s a clear win for multitaskers and those who prefer text over audio!
