Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Ondo State Governor, launched Akure Technology Hub at the Federal University of Technology.
The event was attended by Professor Joseph Fuwape, academia, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredoluand, top government officials among others. While addressing the participants, Mrs. Akeredolu pointed out the need for technology in transforming the rural society. She added that ICT development in the remote areas is the key to bridging education gap across the country.
She also urged the ICT experts and Solar Technology specialist to deploy technological skills to youths in rural areas. Mrs. Akeredolu shared her dream of using Tech hub to offer quality education in the core areas. She appealed to Tech Hup to design Mathematics, Physic and Entrepreneurial lessons to improve the quality of learning.
According to Mr. Olumbe Akinkugbe, the Special Assistant on ICT, the event marked the first time partnership (government, private and academia). He added that small tech startups to use the opportunity to promote technological skill across the continent.
Professor Fuwape, the Vice Chancellor of FUTA, recommended the partnership and urge for more collaboration. She added that the partnership support will enable the institution to boost technological dissemination in the entire state. She also thanked Mrs. Akeredolu for her effort in combating breast cancer in the State.
Joel Ogunsola, the Tech-UP Representative noted that Akure Tech Hub is a top State initiative in the continent. He added that about 82 applications were obtained, 15 shortlisted for training to select the best innovative tech.
The event was concluded by awarding $6250 to the winning tech startup in the state.
Women Loan Support
Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu the Governor of Ondo State, disbursed soft loan across 180 local government markets. The event was conducted at the International Events Centre (Dome).
The event was attended by Chief Judge, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. Other attendees were senior Special Assistant on Women Affairs, Special Assistant on Special Duties, Special Assistant on Gender among others.
Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, First lady Akeredolu state, emphasized the determination of governor towards supporting women. She added that the soft loan aimed at improving the women living standards through poverty eradication.
Arakunrin Akeredolu commissioned women to use the loan wisely in businesses and pay back in 13 months to support others. He noted that the motive was to help the women secure without collateral requirements.
Mr. J A Folayemi, the chairman of Micro Credit Agency, applaud Akeredolu initiatives for positive transformation of the society. He also joined hands in encourage the women to pay back their loans to enable the state to support other needy women.
