The adoption of cloud-based tech is on the rise in Nigeria.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had governments institute several measures to curb its spread. One of those is imposing lockdowns.

The restrictions have affected movement and impacted some sectors like transport. However, a company in Nigeria now reports that the lockdown has pushed the adoption of cloud-based solutions.

According to ICT firm Zeta-Web Nigeria Limited (ZNL), cloud adoption among companies in the country has spiked following the Coronavirus pandemic. The ICT firm’s MD Mr. Chris Obasi, adoption of tech solutions could surge post-COVID-19.

Advantages of Cloud

ZNL’s partnership with another company VMware is helping push the company’s cloud solutions in the region. Data centers, reliable Internet connectivity, and other systems integrations are drawing organizations to the company’s services.

Mr. Obasi noted that because of the lockdown, companies that had yet migrated operations infrastructure to the cloud had seen the need. Most of these are B2C (business to customer) firms that have embraced the work-from-home call.

ZNL recently deployed a VMware SDWAN for a client in the financial services industry and has had many such requests since. Companies are looking at migrating data and workload to the cloud to curb the impact on businesses as the lockdown continues.

Businesses are likely to go on adopting these solutions, Mr. Obasi added. Already some want the provider to install virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) as they look to fulfill contractual obligations.

Companies that want to migrate their workload can benefit from VMware’s products, including the VMWare Horizon for VDI and WorkspaceOne. The latter is for Mobile Device Management (MDM).

According to ZNL, opportunities abound and a company such as theirs is better placed to exploit increased demand for cloud products.
