Enviro Automotive is set to introduce the most budget-friendly electric vehicle to hit the South African market yet. Hailing from China, the Dayun Yuehu will be rebranded as the Dayun S5 Mini SUV upon its launch in South Africa by the end of 2024. This compact SUV, accommodating four passengers, will boast a 31.7kWh ternary lithium battery, providing a commendable range of 330km and reaching a top speed of 100km/h, making it an ideal choice for urban commuting.
The Dayun S5 Mini SUV features a sleek interior boasting modern amenities like a touchscreen infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel, and digital instrument panel. Convenience is key with central locking, electric windows, and remote-operated air conditioning via an app, allowing for pre-entry vehicle start-up.
Enviro Automotive, known for its range of last-mile delivery vehicles, is set to launch the Dayun S5 with a three-year or 60,000km service plan and warranty. Priced below R400,000, it aims to be South Africa’s most affordable EV, undercutting the current leader, the GWM Ora, priced at R687,000. Sales representative Francois Malan confirmed the company’s discussions with several interested firms regarding vehicle purchases.
