TechInAfrica – The Africa Blockchain Alliance and ConsenSys Academy partner up to open 2nd cohort of Africa Blockchain Developer Program later this month. The applications are already open for the three-month program. African developers are encouraged to join the program.

The program was announced by the Africa Blockchain Alliance in February this year, aiming at giving the opportunity for African developers to enhance necessary skills to be industry-ready blockchain developers that can add significant values to their companies/organizations. Moreover, these skills are expected to help them become the world’s top blockchain companies.

The second cohort of the program is said to start later this month though it’s still not clear when the applications for the second cohort will close. Those interested in joining, you can apply here.

The Africa Blockchain Alliance stated that for the next cohort, they expected to have more developers and country representations. By the end of the program, they will give scholarships to selected developers up to $10,000, which will be granted by ConsenSys Grants.

In the program, they will get training that will help them to use the blockchain to solve some of the most challenging problems in Africa and the world. It will mostly be delivered online and will provide access to African developers to ConsenSys Academy‘s developer course at a discounted rate which is $450. The Acadamy’s other similar online course costs $985.

Besides a $10,000 grant, African developers will get access to mentors who will have 1 – 2 hours per week to answer their questions daily. Moreover, they will also get unlimited access to an online forum with more than 2,000 developers consisting of the current and past developers trained by ConsenSys Academy.

The program’s graduates will be issued certificates on the Ethereum blockchain and have the opportunity to work on blockchain projects across Africa and around the globe.
