Africa FinTech Summit (AFS) Set to Discuss the Future of Africa’s FinTech Space

Ghana will host the first Africa FinTech Summit (AFS) scheduled to take place between August 16 and 17, 2018. The organizers identified Accra, Ghana as the most suitable place for their first edition of AFS. The event has attracted more than 300 financial services companies, prequalified decision makers, influential, disruptive and innovative technology. Private Equity firms and some leading Capital Venture which invest in Africa’s FinTech space have confirmed that they will attend the summit. During the event, the participants will redefine the future of financial services in Africa.

The management of Westlion led by the CEO Paul Frimpong agreed to host the AFS event. Westlion is a leading multinational business facilitation company which offers deal flow platforms for different industries in Africa.

The organizers intend to hold an in-depth discussion on the future of Fintech in Africa. Therefore, they will discuss the possibility of disruptive technologies changing finance in the continent. The talks will include InsureTech, cryptocurrencies, new systems for payments and lending, robo-advice, big data and blockchain technology. They will also incorporate bank corporate VCs and bank-FinTech collaboration in the discussion.

Frimpong said that FinTech space in Africa had encountered various changes in the past few years. Therefore, Fintech space faces some challenges that need discussions among stakeholders. Consequently, he said that the event organizers say it worth to approach governments of various states for a strategic partnership. The forum will, therefore, table the future threats that investors should expect in the FinTech ecosystem.

Upon conclusion, the organizers will give first Africa Smart Fintech Awards. Therefore, various vital players and startups with significant contributions in Africa’s FinTech space will receive presents. More information about the event is available here
