Airtel Kenya has  plans to enhance its network coverage, projecting an investment of over $150 million (KSh21.5 billion) in three years. This endeavour involves multiple strategies, including deploying 649 additional network sites across Kenya, aiming to achieve their coverage expansion objectives.

Ashish Malhotra, the CEO of the telecom company, revealed that Airtel Kenya is contemplating the establishment of at least one service shop in each ward to amplify brand visibility. He highlighted that coverage is still lacking in only 250 wards, a gap set to be addressed within three months.

Malhotra further explained that apart from network enhancements, the telecom intends to make additional investments amounting to $150 million over the next two to three years. The company also plans to invest in other areas, such as introducing more affordable routers to cater to various needs.

In addition, Airtel Kenya announced plans to install 349 more sites in June 2023 in order to expand network coverage by the end of the year and meet the country’s growing demand for data services.

After an extensive testing phase, the telecom introduced its 5G network to the public in July 2023.

Throughout its operational history, the company has channelled over $1 billion (KSh143.3 billion) in investments into Kenya. Many of these investments have been executed within the last three years.
