AWS Pitches Its Tents in Africa

Share

AWS Direct Connect has officially been launched in Africa.  The launch came just two days after Data Economy announced on the nearing launch of the service and the company was proud of IT infrastructure in South Africa. Direct Connect has been made available through data center services provider Teraco’s Johannesburg JB1 and Cape Town CT1 data centers and via Teraco Cloud Exchange.

According to Lex van Wyk, CEO, Teraco, the platform will enable customers to directly access AWS services in AWS infrastructure Regions around the world. AWS Direct Connect can be used to access all AWS services in any AWS Region globally, other than China. AWS Direct Connect is an exciting addition to Teraco. Clients looking to build hybrid solutions with their dedicated IT infrastructures now have a choice.

Teraco offers immediate activation of secure connections from Teraco customers to AWS. The value of these cloud computing options will also be seen in the different types of connections clients require.  The company has successfully built Africa’s largest Internet ecosystem, and they are proud to offer clients access to all levels within this now complete ecosystem, including content and cloud providers. AWS’s data centers act as a true cloud hub, enabling linking between cloud service providers, their clients and channel partners making it attractive to those building and managing reliable and high-performance hybrid IT solutions. All the praises go to diverse and populated carrier community; clients are provided with several choices.
