BUI Launches State-of-the-Art Cyber SOC in Nairobi

BUI, a globally recognized technology consultancy and managed services provider specializing in cloud, security, and networking solutions for mid-market and enterprise businesses, has officially launched a cutting-edge Cyber Security Operations Centre (Cyber SOC) at its Nairobi branch in Kenya.

A Cyber SOC serves as a centralized unit designed to monitor, detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats in real-time. The opening of the Nairobi facility marks a significant milestone for BUI, as it becomes the company’s fourth Cyber SOC in Africa, following successful security operations in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Welkom, South Africa.

Speaking at the launch event on February 20, Hasmukh Chudasama, General Manager for East Africa at BUI, highlighted the extensive planning and preparation that went into establishing the new facility. He emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity resilience across the region.

“For Kenya and the broader East African region, our Nairobi Cyber SOC represents more than just advanced security: it’s an investment in local talent, skills development, and job creation. We believe in Kenya’s potential as a cybersecurity leader and look forward to strengthening our partnerships with industry innovators while empowering the next generation of digital defenders,” Chudasama stated.

Ahead of the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the BUI Nairobi Cyber Security Operations Centre (Cyber SOC), BUI Global CEO Ryan Roseveare expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the establishment of the facility.

“This new hub represents a significant milestone in our expansion within the East African market. We are committed to delivering tailored, localized security solutions that provide our customers with comprehensive protection and peace of mind as they adopt and embrace our world-class services,” Roseveare stated.

The BUI Nairobi Cyber SOC leverages a combination of Microsoft Defender XDR, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Copilot, and custom tools, working alongside BUI’s SecOps team to provide round-the-clock, holistic security for organizations of all sizes.

As cybercriminals and threat actors develop increasingly sophisticated and targeted attacks, businesses are facing mounting cybersecurity challenges. Many IT teams struggle with skills shortages, rising technology costs, and complex digital environments. In such a landscape, prioritizing cybersecurity is essential for both individuals and organizations, emphasized special guest Phyllis Migwi, Microsoft Country Manager for Kenya.

Speaking at the inauguration of the BUI Nairobi Cyber Security Operations Centre (Cyber SOC), Phyllis Migwi, Microsoft Country Manager for Kenya, emphasized the fundamental role of security in today’s technology-driven world.

“If you’re using technology, the first foundation is security… Security should begin with me as an individual. What tools am I using? Do I understand them? Do I know how they interact with other tools? These are critical questions. One of the key benefits that BUI brings to its customers is helping them navigate these security considerations,” Migwi stated.

Rachael Ongalo, Head of IT at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust, shared her organization’s experience since partnering with BUI for cybersecurity nearly three years ago. “It has been fantastic… The Cyber SOC has greatly enhanced our visibility, allowing us to detect and respond to threats more effectively. As a result, we’ve significantly reduced the risks to our organization,” she noted.

The BUI Nairobi Cyber SOC is now fully operational, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing advanced security solutions. With plans for continued innovation and the integration of emerging cybersecurity technologies, BUI aims to further strengthen its role in the evolving cybersecurity landscape.
