ChitChat has extended its social commerce services beyond Africa, now reaching advanced economies such as China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, India, Canada, and Malaysia. Additionally, the app will introduce features like multi-currency exchanges, a ChitChat wallet, and a USD virtual debit card. These enhancements will enable users to send money directly to bank accounts, mobile wallets, and cash agents in the local currencies of these specific countries.
Within Africa, the e-commerce app already operates in six countries, including Rwanda, South Africa, Ghana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
ChitChat’s move into remittances highlights its commitment to providing a seamless and accessible platform for Africans, both at home and abroad, to send money easily and securely. By simplifying cross-border transactions, ChitChat aims to enhance the user experience on its platform.
Since its launch in Zambia in March 2024, ChitChat has steadily positioned itself as the go-to social commerce platform for instant USD payments within chat, fostering a community for both payments and interactions. In September 2024, ChitChat took a major step forward by partnering with Mastercard to introduce virtual cards for cross-border payments, significantly boosting its capabilities in USD payments and remittances.
