The current photography system has changed compared to the traditional photography. Days when photography meant capturing only what the eye can see, is long gone. The technical problems brought by traditional photography have been totally eliminated. This has taken place by the evolution of computation photography. The evolution is attributed to the technology advancements and increased disposable income.

Computational photography is the deployment of strong hardware to capture images with strong resolution. They are then processed with the use of software that applies different algorithms. This takes place so as to create an image with a strong dynamic range and high-quality picture. The different algorithms used are matting algorithms, de blurring algorithms, and tone mapping algorithms among others. The Computation photography is in a potential to grow further.  Therefore the market is on the verge of recording a double-digit CAGR in a short while.

The main factor driving the growth of the market is increasing the urge to share images and videos. Many people try as hard as possible to remain connected globally through social media apps like Instagram and Facebook. This has led to the manufacture of smartphones with high-quality cameras. The penetration of smartphones has also gone high globally. Increased developments in technology have led to many developments of image processing. Individuals are able to capture and process images of high quality and share them. But the high cost of computation photography techniques is in a position to hinder the growth of the market. This is more so in underdeveloped regions like MEA and Latin America.

The Global Computation Photography market is divided into two segments. The segments are region and application. In terms of application, the market can be divided into the smartphone, standalone camera, machine vision, and camera. The main dealers in the market are Google, Apple Inc, NVIDIA Corporation, Algolux, ALMALENCE INC, Light, Pelican Imaging, Movidius, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc, and Algolux.

Google bought Digisfera startup that focuses on panoramic images in October 2015. The move aimed at improving the customer experience with Street View technology. Street View technology was developed curtsy of Google for Google Maps. This happened by the use of 360 degrees photography.

Regionally the market can be divided into Western Europe, MEA, Latin America, North America, Eastern Europe and the Asia Pacific. Western Europe and North America focus much on innovation. This is due to increasing disposable income and the presence of many vendors. North America contributes the highest revenue to the computational photography market. Furthermore, APAC region will have a significant growth of the market. This is due to the presence of many smartphones manufactures in the region.
