TechInAfrica – Johannesburg-based startup, DentX, announces that it has raised R1 million from the founders of E4EAfrica, Frederik Gerner and Bas Hochstenbach. The startup was founded in 2018 by Jonathan Asiamah, Benjamin Hinson, and Nolo Mokoena. It specializes in helping users to get quotes for vehicle body damage repairs.
DentX in a statement said that it will use the funding to launch a new data-driven vehicle repair pricing platform. The new platform will change how vehicle owners and insurance partners to source quotes for repairs.
Earlier this year, DentX was among participants in an inaugural cohort, Akro Accelerate, the partnership initiative between Akro Capital and the SA SME Fund.
The two angel investors, Gerner and Hochstenbach both know the startup very well as they were the mentors at the Akro Accelerator. “We are very confident in the team, and in their business plan,” said Gerner.
DentX co-founder and CEO, Asiamah said that they built the startup in order to help customers to fix their vehicles and get better value-added money. He also said that DentX reduces time-consuming and frustrating processes in the panel-beating industry.
“Our new technology and fresh approach create a friction-less digital vehicle repair pipeline that gives vehicle owners the peace of mind they deserve. We’ve sourced quotes with cost savings between 50% to 80% for vehicle owners across many vehicle brands and damage types through our platform,” Asiamah added.
According to the startup, the new platform will be available in December across Gauteng and accessible both on iOS and Google Play Store.
