TechInAfrica – The South African Airways (SAA) has appointed Deon Fredericks from Telkom to be its new Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The new position will be effective on October 15, 2018. The appointment from Telkom to SAA is for a temporary purpose, only for a year period.
The Chairperson SAA Board of Directors, JB Magwaza explained about the appointment of Fredericks while at the same time welcoming him.
“We welcome the appointment of Mr. Fredericks to ensure that SAA’s strategic objective of transforming the business into a financially sustainable aviation group is achieved,” said JB Magwaza.
Currently, Fredericks is the Chief Investment Officer of Telkom while previously, from September 2014 to July 2018, he was the Chief Financial Officer. He is a Chartered Accountant with an honors degree in Accounting and Business Management. With his degree, he already has 30 years’ work experience in blue-chip organizations.
The new position is to replace Robert (Bob) Head whose the contract ended on September 30. At the moment, SAA is in the process of initiating and finalizing its recruitment process for the appointment of its permanent CFO.
