The 2018 Best Digital Strategy Award sponsored by Retail Banker International took place on 17th May 2018 at the London based Waldorf Hilton Hotel. The award was won by Ecobank. The digital strategy of Ecobank leverages ubiquity and scale’s digitalization. Furthermore, it is an important player in Ecobank’s quench to be the African leading consumer financial service provider. It is also the bedrock of its target of offering services to 100 million clients.
The Ecobank Mobile App is a banking app that serves 33 countries across Africa. It offers banking services for 24/7 and carries out transactions in 18 different currencies. Furthermore, it offers services in four major languages that are Spanish, French, Portuguese and English. According to the Ecobank’s CEO Ade Ayeyemi, the award proves the hard work put in place by each person at Ecobank. It also shows the great steps made by the bank in meeting the demands of its customers. He added that he was excited that the bank has reached that milestone by winning the award. Ecobank will use that to cement their target of becoming the leading bank in Africa.
He says that to attain that target they will continuously develop their services and products to be on par with their client’s needs. The bank’s digital strategy uses innovative technology to offer Africans 24/7 banking services. This is wherever and whenever they need them. The Pan-African bank is committed to meet the demands for functionality and convenience required and demanded by Africans. This is part of their goal and it is also an important step towards eliminating financial exclusion in Africa.
Ecobank was also shortlisted for the Best Payment Innovation category during the awards. This was because of the bank’s Ecobank Xpress Cash a cardless withdrawal solution that is integrated with the Ecobank Mobile App. The Ecobank Xpress cash is available in all 33 countries in Africa where the bank is operational. It was also shortlisted for Product Innovation of the Year category. This was because of its Ecobank Mobile App.
