Egypt celebrity-to-fans connection startup raises $3.6M in seed round

Minly, an Egypt-based startup has secured an ‘oversubscribed’ $3.6 million seed fund round that was co-led by 4DX Ventures, B&Y Venture Partners, Global Ventures alongside other regional funds and other strategic investors.

Minly was founded by Mohamed El-Shinnawy, Tarek Hosny, and Bassel El-Toukhy in late 2020. Fans across the MENA region can receive personalized shoutouts from fans on the platform from their favorite celebrities. The startup claims to have over 50,000 registered subscribers, with interest largely fueled by the global pandemic. Celebrities are able to set up their own prices – ofcourse with guidance from Minly’s team.

Peter Orth, a General Partner at 4DX Ventures described Minly’s team as having the “ ambition and the expertise” reqiuired in building a “ full-stack digital interaction platform” capable of changing how “digital content is created and consumed” across the MENA region.

Minly’s team brings together a top tier team with decades of experience in media and entertainment.
