Emerging Egypt grocery delivery app Tawfeer Market has raised a $500K seed round with contributions from the Alexandria Business Angels Network. The company operates off Alexandria – Egypt’s second most populous city. As a startup that began grocery deliveries in 2020, it has now evolved into an established brand across the Alexandrian community.

The app has solid traction having been downloaded over 100,000 times in a year with tens of thousands of orders growing steadily at double-digit month-on-month growth. Tawfeer Market recently participated in the AUC Vlab acceleration program.

Ahmad Fasseeh, the co-founder/CEO at Tawfeer Market is confident that the Egypt grocery delivery market exceeds $50 billion and is poised to grow exponentially over the coming. He further points out thus customers mainly focus on convenience, variety, and price. The company thus strives to offer the right formula fulfilling consumer needs. Tawfeer means savings in Arabic and primarily relies on fulfillment centers and delivery fleets. The company delivers the most commonly ordered SKUs such as fresh and frozen food orders across Alexandria within 60 minutes.
