FilKhedma, Egypt’s home-based cleaning platform has been fully acquired by South Africa’s SweepSouth. The new acquisition is part of SweepSouth’s scaling across the continent and brings a new Tech stack to FilKhedma’s market research.

Egypt’s leading home cleaning service Filkhedma was formed by Omar Ramadan in 2014 and operates across three cities serving tens of thousands of customers with cleaning, maintenance, and beauty services. It supports over 2000 service providers with regular income by deploying technology.

South Africa’s SweepSouth was also founded in the same year by Alen Ribic and Aisha Randor. The company offers a consolidated platform for home servicing across Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa.

In the new acquisition, all employees at FilKhedma will stay on including Ramadan who will play a key role in the executive team of the combined entity. This acquisition means SweepSouth is one of the few startups operating in all four of the continent’s key tech markets. Early on FilKhedma has raised $1 million from The Cairo Angels.
