Widebot, an Egyptian AI startup, has raised $3 million in a pre-Series A funding round to further develop its Arabic large language model (LLM). Initially founded in Cairo, the company has now moved its operations to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Widebot is focused on building “AQL Mind,” a generative AI model designed specifically for the Arabic language. AQL Mind is capable of understanding a wide variety of Arabic dialects and accents, making it versatile in multiple contexts.

The funding round was led by Keheilan Asset Management II, supported by Saudi investment firm Wafra, with additional participation from Enza Capital, DisrupTech Ventures, LoftyInc Capital, Den VC, and SparkLabs Ventures.

Mohammed Nabil, the CEO and co-founder of Widebot, shared his excitement about the partnership, saying, “AQL Mind will allow the company to provide accurate, secure, and personalized AI experiences to Saudi government entities and businesses.”

This funding highlights the increasing interest from investors in AI solutions that cater to the Arabic-speaking market and underscores a broader commitment to technological innovation and economic growth in the region.
