Akhdar, an Egyptian edtech platform just raised a 6-figure investment sum from EdVentures, the venture capital arm of Nahdet Misr Publishing House. Akhdar was founded in 2017 by Mohamed Osama and runs as a cultural platform generating simplified content from books and presenting it in an interactive yet engaging way across various media platforms. The platform first began as a YouTube channel summarising books through short stories.
The edtech recently launched an application with hundreds of videos for audio and printed books extending to 16 genres. In a statement, Mohamed Osama the founder of Akhdar highlighted their journey where they worked very hard with limited resources at their disposal to build the platform and continue producing “useful content.”
The company will use the funds as part of its content offering which features new gaming features to its online application thereby enhancing the overall user experience.
Dalia Ibrahim is the founder at EdVentures shared how will work closely with Akhdar to expand their services and cover many users. Formed in 2017, EdVentures specializes in seed and pre-series A investments. It generally supports startups operating in culture, education, and innovative learning across Egypt, Africa, and the Arab world.
