Enygma Ventures invests R4m into Africa-inspired lifestyle hair brand Brown and Ayo

SA startup based in Cape Town Brown and Ayo has secured funding worth R4 million. Brown and Ayo is black hair care and lifestyle brand. The new round of investment reflects the firm’s ongoing mission to support women-led entrepreneurs across the SADC region.

While speaking to Ventureburn, Lelemba Phiri, one of the Principals of Enygma Ventures described their space as an “extremely lucrative industry”. Brown and Ayo was founded by Acanda Jaswa pointed out that the partnership with Enygma Ventures provides both financial and strategic support.

‘AYO’ is a Yoruba word meaning joy; an expression of how the black woman feels about the brown skin, coily-kinky hair, and African heritage.
