Ethiopia based company BeBlocky has launched its mobile app, BeBlocky 4.0 on Google Play, with updated features and functionality. BeBlocky 4.0 is a revolutionary app for kids that teaches programming in an interactive and fun way. No coding knowledge is required thus making it perfect for children starting out. Teaching is effected through scratch programming language to kids so they can code in an interactive manner.

The ed-tech startup aims to equip African children with the fundamentals of computer science.

Since the launch in 2019, the app has been downloaded over 10,000 times across the globe. It has also featured on international platforms such as the Tony Elumelu Forum and TechCrunch. The current pandemic will confine children to stay indoors and continue with studies. That prompted the development of BeBlocky 4.0 which is free for use.

New features on BeBlocky 4.0 app are:

Upgraded programming concepts where kids learn sequencing, conditionals, loops, variables and functions.

  • In-app tutorial
  • Augmented reality features
  • Multiple user accounts
  • Parental tracking portal
  • In-app store purchases
  • Parents dashboard from screen time management
  • Cool design
