Ethiopia has made it to the top 100 countries in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index’s latest report – a first for the 100 million-plus nation. This was a 5 place jump from the previous year to close at 100th. The capital Addis Ababa now ranks 495th in the cities segment after rising 197 spots. Other top African countries on the list are South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Rwanda, Somalia, Cape Verde, Namibia, Morocco, Mauritius, and Tunisia.

StartupBlink is a world-renowned comprehensive startup map and research center working towards uncovering the momentum of startups in shaping the global ecosystem and accelerating its growth. The Global Ecosystem Map is a crowdsourced community resource listing accelerators, startups, incubators, co-working spaces, and ecosystem leaders worldwide.

Shega stands out as one of StartupBlink’s local partners alongside  RENEW LLCblueMoon, SEMRush, Addis Ababa Angels Network & Ibex Frontier, Crunchbase, and Meetup who all make its international partners.

The map has since been updated in 2013 to enable ecosystem developers to map out, brand, and grow their ecosystems at no charge. Through indexing, startups, accelerators, incubators, investors, and other shareholders can make informed decisions on the ecosystems they plan to invest, move, learn, and look out for.
