The BPO Company CEO, Atul Kulshrestha launched Extramarks education portal in the year 2007.The idea of this company can be traced back in 2007. Mr. Atul pioneered the idea by presenting series of education queries. During this time, the founder was spent a long period of time with the family including his school children. When he arrived home once in a while, his children came running with too many books assignment. It was from this scenario that Mr. Atul decided to launch a digital learning content to facilitate students learning capacities.

At the incubation periods, Mr. Atul decided to go to school to help him incorporate his method into the school curriculum. He took several years carrying out market research on how to put in place appropriate digital education content. Visiting school was the ideal strategy since internet accessibility was still very low in many parts of the world. Besides internet challenges, convincing teachers and school stakeholders about the idea was also a big problem. He could end up visiting one school more than ten times bringing them on board.

Despite the challenges, the company currently has more than 9000 public and private schools enrolled. It is approximated that the net revenue for 2017-2018 will sum up to  230 crores. The company is also plotting to open new regional branches in South Africa, Dubai, and Indonesia. A group of Reliance Industries pulled out in 2010 after investing a significant amount of capital.  This story helps to explain how some startup founders began entrepreneurial spirits which resulted in huge eureka opportunities in future.
