Facebook’s Ad Breaks: Monetizing Your Content from Advertising

Share

TechInAfrica – For content creators, social media serves as a framework to earn money while providing content for their viewers. One of the most popular platforms for this is YouTube, where more often than not, videographers and content creators display advertisements in parts of their respective videos—fully funded by YouTube and its collaborating advertisers. Now, content creators from Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa rejoice as Facebook rolled out Ad Breaks for the regions, a feature that allows video creators monetize their content from advertising similar to YouTube’s system.

In order for your videos to be eligible for ad breaks, they must be at least 3 minutes long. Furthermore, you can put ad breaks before the video starts, in the middle of the video, or a non-interruptive image ad that shows below the video without stopping it.

So how can you see whether you’re eligible to put ad breaks in your video? Fortunately, Facebook kindly stated that:

  1. You must pass and remain compliant with Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies (click here for more details)
  2. You have to publish from a Page (not a profile) with at least 10,000 followers.
  3. You must generate at least 30,000 1-minute views on videos that are at least 3 minutes long in the last 60 days.
  4. You must be at least 18 years old.
  5. You must live in an ad breaks eligible country (click here for the full list).

“Your estimated earnings are based on several factors, including the number of impressions and CPM. Your payouts will be different from what’s displayed in Estimated Earnings if your video contains content owned by someone else or there are other adjustments,” Facebook specified. Additionally, if you use a content you don’t have the rights to use in your video, the person or business who owns the content may claim ownership and may receive a portion of your earnings.
