TechInAfrica – The FNB Business Innovation Awards (FNB BIA) 2019 has included two new categories for this year’s event. With the new additions, the Awards now has covered the entire business landscape in South Africa.
FNB has partnered with 10XE and the Township Entrepreneurs Alliance (TEA) to promote SME and township entrepreneur categories. Overall, the FNB BIA 2019 has three categories and the entries have been opened since April 1, 2019.
According to FNB Business’ CEO, Mike Vacy-Lyle, South Africa is currently facing some challenges in the economic growth and sustainable job creation. The support from government and the private sectors will help businesses, both big and smalls, to achieve sustainable growth and development.
Vacy-Lyle said: “FNB BIA celebrates entrepreneurship and recognizes business owners who go the extra mile to constantly innovate, think out of the box and reinvent themselves to remain relevant. Despite testing economic circumstances, these entrepreneurs continue to take risks, while remaining optimistic about growth.”
The FNB BIA is purposed to any kind of businesses at all size. It promotes and recognizes the innovation that has the potential to change the way the industries operate.
Businesses must display high growth potential and has a positive impact on the socio-economic of the South African economy. A panel of juries will review businesses with outstanding business ethics, having goodwill, and actively involved in job creation.
The successful entries will go through a selection process. The selection panel will review and assess the qualifying business from each of the three categories and select the finalists for FNB BIA 2019. All the finalists will demonstrate their business solutions to a panel of juries in the final phase, where a winner for each category will be chosen.
The winning business will get support in the business development up to R1 million, helping them to scale their business. The winners will be announced as the FNB Business Innovators of the Year 2019 at an award ceremony.
