Futuregrowth invests in SA finance startup LifeCheq

Futuregrowth Asset Management just invested in LifeCheq, a startup offering digitized, and holistic personal finance. The startup was founded in by Abubakari Malik Addae, David Jacka, Dylan Flint, and Shen Tian in 2017. All the founders worked at Old Mutual a life insurance provider.

The startup offers expert advice to entrepreneurs and professionals who are currently underserved by the financial community. The investment was sealed last month through the Futuregrowth Development Equity Fund according to the statement released by Futuregrowth.

Futuregrowth invested in SA fintech firm back in 2018 did not disclose their investment in LifeCheq. The head of Futuregrowth’s unlisted equity Amrish Narrandes revealed that they would like to invest in their employers through financial wellness programs.

Addae who is the CEO of LifeCheq previously oversaw the Emerging Market’s committee at Old Mutual. Tian, the co-founder heads operations and acts as the COO. His background is in actuarial science and computer science.

Jaka is the CTO, and adds a software engineering background and is passionate on the use of technology to make life easier. Flint plays a key role as the Head of Advice, with extensive experience in modern finance such as capital markets and product design.
