TechInAfrica – A new partnership emerged from Ghana-based fintech Zeepay and a leading insurance Enterprise in the form of beneficiary insurance made for remittance senders.
Using Zeemicro as a service, insurance purchase can be made when sending money to Ghana. Zeemicro covers GH¢5000 via mobile money for any damage or claims.
“Through this partnership, our goal is not only to offer life cover for the beneficiaries but also to eliminate the anxieties, easing their [financial] burden and assuring Ghanaians abroad that their remittances are well protected,” Enterprise Life MD Jacqueline Benyi said.
Zeepay’s chief commercial officer Dede Quarshie commented on the partnership, saying, “We are optimistic that this service will further deepen our financial inclusion drive across Ghana.”
“We are delighted to bring this wonderful product to market and thank all our partners for making it possible including Enterprise Life and Gloremit UK our strategic partner for the service,” Mobile Money Product Manager Felicity Jaforktuk said.
The partnership is hoped to overcome the economic crisis and risk due to the pandemic, as well as increasing the country’s insurance industry penetration that currently lies below 2%. With the country’s high mobile money penetration at 60%, the potential of the partnership is cemented with Zeemicro service.
