TechInAfrica – Truckrtech was announced as the winner of this year’s TechCircle’s Pitch2Win competition held in Lagos a few days ago. The competition was run in collaboration with Japan’s FreakOut Holdings, aimed at helping local startups to access international investment opportunities.
Truckrtech is Ghanaian startup founded in 2018 by Caryl Joshua Akonor. It enables manufacturing companies, exporters, importers, freight forwarders to book any kind of haulage truck online for their goods. The platform provides real-time visibility, cargo-in-transit insurance, as well as communication channels to shippers and drivers.
According to Akonor, Truckrtech has completed their pilot and he hoped that it commences with full operation in the coming months.
Truckrtech won over the other nine finalists, including Asusu, a SaaS company founded in 2017 by Yusuf Zakari; Gricd Frij, an IoT company founded in 2017 by Oghenetega Iortim; LendSqr, a cloud platform for individual and small lenders founded in 2018 by Adedeji Olowe; Plumter, an AI-powered solution founded in 2018 by Simi Adejumo; CashBudy, a platform that enables Nigerians to receive and send money; Curacel, an AI-powered fraud detection engine founded in 2017 by Henry Mascot; Prodigy, a school management software founded in 2013 by Adeleye Olufemi; Driversgng, an on-demand digital drivers recruitment company founded in 2019 by Daniel Audu; and Aidahbot, an AI solution company founded in 2018 by Nancy Ewurum.
The final competition was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Impact Hub, Ikoyi, Lagos. Coming as the winner of the competition, Truckrtech received $2,700 in equity funding.
