The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) aims at making it easier for individuals to start and run businesses anywhere. The platform is now available in more than 170 countries globally. Furthermore, the platform brings together, investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, researchers and entrepreneurial support groups. GEN main goal is to offer an ecosystem that educates individuals and create jobs. It also aims at speeding up innovation and improves economic growth.
In Nigeria, the company aims at expanding Global Entrepreneurship Week. This is by making it more broadly as a recognized national event in the country. Moreover, they aim at talking about policy direction for startups and small businesses. This will be done via focus groups and roundtable discussions. They will also partner with Small Medium Enterprise Agency of Nigeria. This will help them come up with startups and enterprises that can have an impact in Africa and globally.
The company appointed Olawale Anifowose to be their new Managing Director in Nigeria. He will have the role of expanding partnership of GEN. The expansion will be among Nigerian entrepreneurship ecosystem leaders. He will also link them to their counterparts in more than 170 countries. Furthermore, Anifowose was encouraged by a large number of the spirited entrepreneurial subpopulation. But, the population does not have the opportunity to showcase their innovative ideas to the world. He hopes to harmonize entrepreneurial support activities that are there in isolated pockets. He will, therefore, redirect them into a partnership ecosystem.
The company is on the move to ensure it plays a huge role in bringing actors together into the ecosystem. This will help them to have an appositive approach to shaping the SME and startup scene in Nigeria. Their main effort in the country will be to unify entrepreneurial ecosystem. This will be made possible by offering a common pool of partnership and collaboration for common objectives and goals.
