TechInAfrica – Working together with Zapper, Huawei presents its new mobile payment service, known as Huawei Pay.
Likun Zhao, VP at Huawei Consumer Business Group for Southern Africa, says that the company is proud to present Huawei Pay in South Africa in partnership with Zapper.
By using Huawei Pay, the users are allowed to add their bank cards to the app and then pay in stores by scanning the Zapper QR Payment Code on the bill when they check out.
The mobile payment application supports all local debit and credit cards from all local banks. The application is believed to be a simple and convenient payment solution that will facilitate the lives of consumers in South Africa.
According to Brett White, CEO of Zapper, Huawei becomes the most loved smartphone among smartphone users in South Africa. By presenting access to Zapper’s scan-to-pay platform for South African users, it will enable them to make the quickest and secure payments across the country.
“We are in the business of facilitating transactions. By putting the Zapper solution in the hands of millions of South African consumers, many more merchants can now also confidently offer cashless transactions. This partnership is a win for the local mobile payments market. We also look forward to continued innovation together,” Zhao added.
Users are required to authenticate, by passcode or fingerprint, every transaction when using Huawei Pay. This authentication aims to ensure that the digital wallet remains secure. It also receives the same fraud protection as users would get on their bank cards.
