TechInAfrica – The first humanoid robot, Sophia, will address the fifth edition of Transform Africa Summit that will take place in Kigali, Rwanda on May 14 – 17, 2019 under the theme “Boosting Africa’s Digital Economy”. Sophia is scheduled to headline discussions about artificial intelligence and the fourth Industrial Revolution.
Sophia is a citizen of Saudi Arabia and an Ambassador of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). She can see, walk, follow facial expressions, make eye contact, and recognize individuals. Moreover, she is also able to deliver a speech and have conversations naturally with language subsystem.
Sophia was named the United Nations Development Program’s first-ever Innovation Champion on November 21, 2017.
The fifth edition of Transform Africa Summit will feature high profile speakers and panelists such as Smart Africa’s Director General Lacina Koné, World Bank Vice President Makhtar Diop, Mozilla Chief Innovation Officer Katharina Bochert, AfDB President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Regional Director Cynthia Samuel Olonjuwon, among others. Furthermore, it will also expect Heads of State, Ministers of African countries, industry leaders, innovators, as well as thought leaders in the ICT sector.
Around 4,000 of participants are expected to attend the Summit, including Smart Africa’s Director General Lacina Koné, World Bank Vice President Makhtar Diop, Mozilla Chief Innovation Officer Katharina Bochert, AfDB President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Regional Director Cynthia Samuel Olonjuwon, among others.
This year’s summit will include The Smart Africa Heads of State Leaders Summit, The Smart Africa Women’s Summit, FinTech and eHealth Forums, the Smart Africa Conference and Exhibition to name a few.
