IDL Africa Technologies, West-Africa (IDL), a systems integration and consulting company headquartered in Accra, Ghana, has entered into a reseller agreement with GlobalMed®, a leading global virtual health platform company.

IDL now offers GlobalMed’s complete line of telehealth solutions including delivery stations, medical devices, and software. This development will advance quality urban and rural healthcare service delivery to Ghana and other West African countries including Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Togo, and Senegal.

We see exciting and huge market potential for proven and state-of-the-art telemedicine solutions in West Africa”, said Thomas Asiamah, Managing Director of IDL Africa Technologies.

GlobalMed’s mobile telemedicine solutions meet the need to enhance our service portfolio and capability for corporate clients and their employees, and to expand access to care for medical personnel and the patients they serve in Ghana and West Africa.”

One of the major problems faced by West-Africa countries is a shortage of medical personnel.

There is an acute shortage of highly credentialed doctors and specialists, with fewer than 10 doctors per 50,000 people.

Most specialists and services are only available in urban cities. Rural health workers, who serve most of the population, are isolated from specialist support and up-to-date information due to poor roads and scarce library, and other educational resources.

The potential for virtual care delivery is as immense as the need to expand access throughout Africa”, said Joel E. Barthelemy, Founder and CEO of GlobalMed.

Having deployed telehealth solutions in East Africa, we are thrilled to support IDL’s efforts to expand healthcare delivery to West Africa countries as well and bring quality, timely care to under-served communities.”

In combination with IDL’s deep technology and implementation expertise, this partnership ensures that West-Africa clinicians and patients can experience the benefits that a seasoned provider of telehealth solutions can offer.
